WORLDSPAN is creating technology for deckchair.com that can deliver higher quality travel information and deal with more users at the same time.
The global distribution system supplier is a specialist in providing back-end systems for Internet travel sites – its clients includes Microsoft’s on-line travel agency Expedia – but admits it was overwhelmed at the amount of interest the public showed in Sir Bob Geldof’s on-line travel site.
The deckchair.com site has had a lot of technical problems since it launched in April but co-owner James Page said they had been ironed out now.
Worldspan is creating the improved technology for version two of Sir Bob’s on-line travel site which is due out before Christmas.
Information Technology director Gianni Cataldo said:”We have to move our technology forward to cope with demand. People want more availability, options and more details of each travel itinerary.”
