Abingdon Travel sells tour operation

ABINGDON Travel has sold off its tour operation American Connections to Titan Travel for an undisclosed sum.

The move comes two months after the company off-loaded its travel agency Harvey Thomas Travel to P&O Travel. American Connections, which also trades as Canadian Connections and Connections Downunder, specialises in fully inclusive tours to the US, Canada and Australia.

Abingdon Travel partners John Shepperd and Roger Thompson will retire but all American Connections staff will retain their jobs. The operation’s HQ will remain at High Wycombe. Titan Travel product manager Matt Ferry said: “We have been building up our escorted tours packages and we have found that more people want tailor-made trips. We were not equipped for that so we started looking around for an FIT outfit. American Connections fulfilled all the criteria.”
