Holiday Inn and Crowne Plaza have timed a £5 million TV upgrade across 64 UK hotels to coincide with the start of the World Cup.
New 50inch HD TV screens have been fitted in lounges and restaurants. Bedrooms will see 32inch flat screen TVs being introduced while suites will have 37inch HD TVs installed together with high speed internet access over the next 12 months.
The million investment coincides with the launch of a football themed ‘Extra Time’ promotion offering prizes for guests, which will run for the duration of the World Cup.
Corporate guests can book a meeting room on a match day and get three hours free to watch games.
Holiday Inn operations vice president Christopher Rawstron said: “With the fever building up to the games our new big screen TVs will let guests and fans at Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn hotels across the country experience the big match atmosphere.
“As well as our South African food and beverage offers, our Extra Time promotion will give guests and non-hotel guests the chance to win thousands of prizes, including a South African safari, with our scratch and win cards that will be given with every purchase.”
