Bourne Leisure owners take £60m dividend

Bourne Leisure paid out a £60m dividend last year despite a dip in profits.

The owners of Butlins and Warner Leisure Hotels have enjoyed a £600 million dividend in the last 15 years.

Accounts for Bourne show that £60.5m was paid after pre-tax profits decreased by 1.1% to £153.4m.

Revenue was up 2.2% to almost £1.1bn, according to The Times.

Bourne is majority-owned by three families, including that of Peter Harris.

He bought a caravan park in 1964 and later the Butlins and Warner brands from Rank in 2000.

He is no longer on the board but his son Paul is a non-executive director.
