Superbreak is expecting a 15% growth in family bookings over the summer holidays as the lates market begins to kick in.
Ian Mounser, Superbreak’s sales director, said within the last two weeks, 60% of the operator’s bookings have been for travel within six weeks of the time of booking.
The operator is urging agents to tap into the domestic breaks market as well as sell tickets for UK attractions which are continuing to perform strongly – bookings through agents for Legoland Windsor, Superbreak’s top selling destination, have more than doubled in May and June compared to the previous year.
Mounser said: “Many of the buying public don’t think of their travel agent when considering booking a UK break, or perhaps even didn’t realise that they could book with an agent.
“However, agents have a great deal to offer for UK family breaks, because of all the pre-bookable extras that can be offered, whether it be tickets to see The Lion King in London, rail travel to Edinburgh, tickets for Alton Towers or the new Legoland Discovery Centre in Manchester.
“All such add-ons are fully commissionable.”
