Newcastle travel agency Monster Travel has ceased trading.
The call centre and homeworking company was set up in April 2008 by David Hawke and Julie Gilmore. Hawke come from Hays Travel and was previously head of direct sales for Thomson Holidays.
The company employed 94 staff, and was a member of the Freedom Travel Group, using its bond to dynamically package holidays as well as selling standard packages.
Jane Atkins, managing director of the Freedom Travel Group, said: “We are very disappointed and saddened that Monster Travel are no longer in a position to trade, but we will take on all forward bookings, ensuring that customers travel as planned and that trade suppliers are paid.”
A spokesman for the CAA confirmed all forward bookings would be honoured by Freedom Travel Group.
“Bookings will be covered by Freedom’s Atol. As far as we’re concerned it’s just a change of admin so hopefully people won’t notice the difference.”
A message posted on the Monster Travel website instructs customers with forward bookings to call 01782 828620.
