Add-ons specialist Holiday Extras took a record number of bookings on Monday, August 2.
The company took almost almost 12,000 bookings, 5% more than its previous one-day record, set in August 2009.
Chief executive Matthew Pack said: “August is always one of our busiest periods, but this is phenomenal.
“We attribute it to a number of factors: the quality, price and increasing breadth of our product range; the speed and strength of our newly-improved agents’ site; working closely with many new partners; and our unshakable reputation for service.”
In general, insurance sales have performed particularly strongly, with policy issues up by more than 120% up year on year.
Holiday Extras has also seen a 6% growth in hotel and parking bookings since June.
Pack added: “Not only are we well on our way to making up the shortfall due to the volcanic ash cloud, but it seems that our approach to supporting customers and partners is resulting in an expanding market share and customer base.”
