Virgin Voyages has revealed passengers will be able to order Champagne on board incoming ship Scarlet Lady simply by shaking their phones.
Passengers can request bottles of bubbly through a delivery service – called Shake for Champagne – on Virgin Voyages’ Sailor App anywhere on the ship.
When the app is open on the passenger’s phone and the device is shaken, a button to order the beverage will appear. This will allow passengers to order a 750 milliletre bottle of Möet Chandon Impérial.
The bottle will be delivered with two glasses directly to the passenger.
Tom McAlpin, the line’s president and chief executive, said: “It is never too early for champagne and there is always something to toast to while aboard Scarlet Lady.”

A new bar Sip, described by the line as a “decadent lounge” which features a “diverse curation of Champagne labels”, has also been revealed by Virgin Voyages.
In addition to Champagne, afternoon high tea will be served in Sip, which will have a long marble bar with a rose-gold design.
Passengers can choose a glass of Champagne priced from $9 or they can splash out on a $1,000 vintage bottle.
Passengers who book a sailing departing in April or May next year will receive a complimentary Virgin Voyages’ limited-edition bottle of Möet Chandon Impérial in their cabin upon arrival.
