Agent training emphasis in MSC Cruises job changes

Claire Smith will be responsible for travel agent training in a newly-created role at MSC Cruises.

She moves from being regional sales manager for Scotland and Northern Ireland to become national training manager and new business partnership manager.

Wendy Cameron joins MSC Cruises from defunct operator Super Break, bringing 25 years’ experience in account management in both Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Smith starts her new role on October 30 while Cameron joins on Monday (October 14), reporting to head of retail Andrea Stafford.

MSC Cruises has seen its sales team grow from five to 20 in less than three years.

Smith will develop a strategy for long-term engagement with the trade, and boost use of the MSC Masters platform.

In the partnerships side of her role, she will be responsible for exploring and developing new opportunities with key decision makers in various sectors to support growth plans.

Sales director Steve Williams said: “The further expansion of our sales team is testament to the continued success of MSC Cruises in the UK and Irish markets.

“In creating this new role I hope to further support our existing travel agents as well as expand our distribution further by equipping agents with the skills and knowledge they need to sell cruise.

“Whilst 2019 has been our most successful year to date there is always more to do.”

Smith said: “Our fleet and product range continues to expand and as a result the need for training and engagement with all our partners increases.

“This role provides MSC Cruises with an excellent opportunity to allow our trade partners a more comprehensive and immersive training experience, enhancing our relationships and further generating mutual sales.”
