London Olympics tickets to start at £20

Full-price tickets for the 2012 London Olympic Games will start at just £20, organising body London 2012 revealed today.

But prices for the most sought-after events – such as the athletics super final at the new Olympic Stadium – will rise as high as £750, and a top-tier ticket to the opening ceremony will set attendees back £2,012.

The prices are revealed in a four-page document downloadable from www.tickets.london2012.com.

Special discounted tickets will be available for more than 200 sessions, with under-16s paying their age and over-60s paying just £16.

Online registrations for the eight million available tickets opened in March and attracted more than one million people in a month.

London 2012 chief executive Paul Deighton has previously said there would be “millions of affordable and accessible tickets” for sale.

Prestige hospitality tickets would account for less than 1% of the tickets on sale, according to the organisers.

Tickets go on sale in March 2011.
