Holiday Taxis’ Mc Donough to set up transfer business

Former Holiday Taxis head of sales Damian Mc Donough is setting up a new transfer business backed by the Vertical Group.

Airport and resort transfer business Transfers4Travel is to be launched at World Travel Market next month.

Transfers for travel will be available through API and XML feeds from November, backed by The Vertical Group’s technology infrastructure.

Vertical Group owns accommodation-only provider bedbank.com and bedbankski.com and transfers will be available to book online through both sites.

Chief executive Peter Healy said: “We have recognised the opportunity presented to us by Damian and demonstrated in his business plans and we are privileged to have been invited to work with him on this project.

“Having access to our own transfer stock is a natural step forward for our accommodation-only sites and agents will be able to book all resorts online which will simplify the booking process and increase revenue for the agent.”

Mc Donough said: “Transfers are often regarded as a simple element of the package, however, sourcing and arranging transfers to thousands of resorts is costly, time-consuming and resource intensive and largely, it is not viable for retailers to source and arrange their own.

“Our offer to retail agents will be completely transparent, thereby giving agents more control over margins and for our suppliers, will offer a cost effective solution for the distribution and delivery of their product through our technology.”
