Second British holidaymaker drowns in Canaries

A second British holidaymaker has drowned in a hotel swimming pool in the Canary Islands in two days.

Andrew Nicol, 38, died on Monday, a day after six-year-old Megan Thrower from King’s Lynn drowned in a hotel pool in Gran Canaria.

Mr Nicol, who was on holiday with his wife and ten year old daughter, had been staying in the resort of Puerto de Santiago on Tenerife.

They were at the Hotel Tamaimo Tropical, where the tragedy occurred at about 18.00.

A Foreign Office spokeswoman said: “We are aware of the death of a British national on October 18 in Tenerife. We are providing consular assistance to the family.”
Megan was with her family at the four-star Hotel Gran Canaria Princess on Gran Canaria when she died.
