WTM 2010 preview: Australia stands

Australia AS550

Online training is top of the bill on the stand of Tourism Australia, which will be promoting the new Adventure Module of its Aussie Specialists programme for agents.

The module, which follows hot on the heels of the Aussie Specialist luxury module, is designed to help agents sell more active and adventure breaks in the country.

‘But what’s in it for me?’, I hear you cry. Well, if the increased commission isn’t enough to get you reaching for your mouse, Tourism Australia, along with Tourism Northern Territory and Qantas, will be using WTM to promote the opening of applications for its Corroboree 2011 mega fam – and to be in with a chance
you will have to be an Aussie Specialist graduate.

Agents have until December 12 to register their interest in attending the event, which offers training based in Darwin next June followed by a great choice of five-day fams. A whopping 300 places are up for grabs.

In other news, attendees will also be able to find out about the ‘There’s nothing Like Australia’ promotional campaign, designed to show what’s unique about the country, and request copies of promotional material (also available at aussiespecialist.com). And Great Southern Rail will be on the stand to showcase 12 new departures for its seasonal touring train The Southern Spirit.

New Zealand AS555

Fans of the oval ball should head over to the Tourism New Zealand stand to hear how preparations are going for the Rugby World Cup 2011, from updates on the stadia, to the operators offering packages and tickets. The country is expecting to attract 25,000 fans from the UK and Ireland – a potential windfall for agents (newzealand.com/rugby).

Samoa AS414

Samoa is also getting in on the act. Each day on its stand, the Samoa Tourism Authority will be giving away a pair of tickets to see England v Samoa at Twickenham on November 20.
