Security incident at Glasgow airport

A suspicious bag left in a security hall at Glasgow Airport prompted bomb disposal experts to be called in tonight.

Arriving passengers were not allowed to collect luggage and were ushered into a holding area at the rear of the airport away from domestic arrivals.

Aircraft continued to arrive after the discovery of the package at around 9pm but passengers were held onboard.

An eyewitness said armed police were called and shutters were closed preventing members of the public from seeing what was going on.

Strathclyde Police confirmed that they were investigating an incident at the airport, but no further details were released.
