Universal names new UK boss

Universal Parks and Resorts has announced the appointment of Alison Montague as the new managing director for Europe.

She succeeds Simon Presswell, who accepted a role with NBC Universal in London during the summer.

Montague will lead marketing and sales initiatives across the UK and Europe and be based in London reporting to Dennis Quinn, vice president of international sales, Universal Orlando Resort.

Formerly general manager, product and commercial for Virgin Holidays Montague has worked closely with Universal on a marketing alliance with Universal Orlando Resort in Flordida.

“Having worked so closely with the team over the last year, I’m really excited to join the business at a time when the brand is at an all time high, following the amazing launch of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter,” she said.

“I am looking forward to working with our travel partners across a variety of distribution channels to ensure we truly optimise the success we’re currently enjoying across EMEA territories.”

Prior to working for Virgin Holidays Montague has also held various senior positions within the travel industry at Airmiles and worked in sales and commercial roles with BA.

“I am excited to work with Alison as we continue to grow our presence in Europe,” said Quinn.  “She has a strong record of success and she understands our business and our customers.  We look forward to great things from her.”
