The Excite Holidays’ UK website was still showing no indication of difficulties for the company today despite calls being referred to KPMG in Australia.
The business services firm was appointed voluntary administrators of the Australian wholesaler on Friday.
Morgan Kelly, restructuring services partner at KPMG Australia, said: “We are at the very beginning stage of the administration process, where there are more questions than answers.
“However, we have now commenced an urgent assessment of the business and further information will be made available to affected parties as soon as possible.”
Sydney-based KPMG confirmed that it was appointed as voluntary administrators of the Australian-owned entities of Excite Holidays only.
For more information, customers and creditors of Excite Holidays are being advised to email au-fmexcite@kpmg.com.au.
Phone calls to the London office of Excite continue receive a response saying that bookings are no longer being taken and referring consumers to contact KMPG in Austrlia via email.
Excite was set-up in 2002 and has offices in Sydney, New Zealand, the US, Thailand, Singapore, Greece and the UK.
As well as hotels, the business sold “adventure and cultural tours” and ferry and transfer services.
Excite Holidays Europe posted on its Facebook page on December 30 that it was “experiencing system issues which have affected a number of our bookings and calls”.
