ON-LINE hotel distribution network WorldRes is to open a UK office to encourage British hotels to join the scheme.
The US-based company says it wants to educate British hoteliers about how much cheaper it is to sell rooms through its network rather than through the global distribution systems.
Richard Lewis, who will head the operation as UK president, said: “There’s a high charge to join a GDS, there’s a maintenance fee and agents pay for each transaction that is made on it.
“Through our system, there’s no charge to join and no maintenance fee – just a transaction fee that is never higher than 10% of the sale.”
WorldRes acts as an Internet central reservation system that allows direct interaction between hotels and travellers.
