An Etihad passenger aircraft travelling from Abu Dhabi to London Heathow has been diverted to Stansted after a British man started making threats.
Two RAF fighter jets accompanied the aircraft as it landed just before midday.
The 37 year old man was arrested on arrival, according to reports.
An Essex Police spokesman said: “The pilot reported a passenger causing disruption and making threats. The plane was diverted to Stansted Airport where it landed just before midday.
“No one has been injured and the airport has been operating normally.”
