Coronavirus-infected British passenger from Diamond Princess dies

A British man who became infected with coronavirus while in quarantine on Diamond Princess has reportedly died in Japan.

Several Japanese media outlets including Asahi News, Kyodo News and NHK have reported the news of the man’s death.

The man is the first Briton to die from coronavirus.

British couple David and Sally Abel were two of the four Britons to stay behind, but neither of them is the person who has died.

Four Britons, including the deceased man, had to remain in Japan after around 70 other passengers on Diamond Princess tested negative for the virus and were repatriated to the UK last week.
