Silversea founder dies

Silversea Cruises founder Antonio Lefebvre d’Ovidio died at the weekend. Born in 1913, he was a maritime lawyer and professor before acquiring cargo ships and ferries in the Adriatic.


He later owned Sitmar Cruises which was merged with Princess Cruises in 1988. d’Ovidio went on to create the six star cruising brand Silversea in the early 1990s.
