Amadeus sells Opodo in a deal worth 500 million euros

Global distribution system supplier Amadeus has sold its subsidary Opodo to two private equity funds in a deal worth 500 million euros.

The sale of the airline online retailer by Amadeus IT Holding to AXA Private Equity and Permira Funds is for 450 million euros and is subject to approval of Amadeus’ board of directors. JP Morgan acted on behalf of Amadeus on the deal.

The total deal, worth 500 million euros, includes a ten-year commerical agreement between the GDS supplier and Opodo, eDreams and GoVoyages, in which Amadeus will provide travel technology services to the online retailers. Pemira bought Spanish online retailer eDreams last July and AXA bought French agency GoVoyages last May.

The deal is subject to approval by the competition authorities.
