Coronavirus: Rail holiday operator unveils new bookings policy

A new cancellation and rescheduling policy has been introduced by Railbookers and Amtrak Vacations.

The move by the rail holidays specialist is designed to help agents and their customers deal with the ongoing coronavirus situation.

Those making new bookings until April 30 will have the option to change travel dates or cancel up until five days before departure without incurring any change or cancellation fees.

Any existing bookings can also be rescheduled up to five days prior to departure date on the same basis.

Customers will be issued a voucher for future travel valid for 24 months, which can be used toward a new booking without penalty.

Company president Frank Marini said: “We give our travel agents and customers maximum flexibility so they can choose where, when, and how long they want to travel.

“For example, if a travel agent’s customer no longer wants to travel to Italy, they can select a Grand Canyon journey with our Amtrak Vacations brand.

“We are not restricting customers to specific dates of travel or destinations. If the train goes there, so do we.”
