Luton airport passengers rise by 9.4%

Luton airport saw passenger numbers rise by 9.4% last month over January 2010. The increase represented more than 50,000 additional passengers using the airport.

Managing director Glyn Jones said: “Significant growth in passenger numbers for January has been driven primarily through added capacity on our existing 95 routes. “Travellers are choosing London Luton for the variety of destinations offered at competitive prices and our excellent transport links to London, the South East and the Midlands.

“The hard work and planning of the London Luton Airport operational teams to keep the airport open during the recent freezing weather also helped minimise any disruption.”
