The threat of strikes disrupting Easter holiday flights to and from Spain appears to be over after airport authority AENA and Spanish unions agreed a preliminary deal.
Travellers had faced severe disruption as Spanish airport workers threatened to strike over privatisation of the sector, calling for 22 days of walkouts over the coming months.
Concern among consumers led to a dowturn in searches for Spain, with rivals such as Egypt, Turkey and Greece tipped to benefit from holidaymakers’ uncertainty.
In travelweekly.co.uk’s homepage poll, agents said they were most likely to rebook their clients to Greece or Turkey.
