Avis appointment to develop self-study programme

AVIS is to speed up the development of its Driving School self-study programme following the appointment of Rebecca Wolf as travel support and training co-ordinator for the travel sales team.

Sales manager, business and retail travel Julia Kemp said the new position has been created to put a stronger emphasis on training since the launch of the Driving School last October.

There is one programme for business travel agents, which focuses on booking using a global distribution system, and one for leisure retailers, which explains about booking on viewdata.

“A number of business and leisure travel agents have been through the Driving School manual, completed the first module and got their certificates, but we want to take it forward from here and that will be one of Rebecca’s priorities,” said Kemp.

The first Driving School module teaches agents how to introduce a car rental sale.

Other modules in the manual focus on how to overcome objections and improve selling skills.

“We want to make it as easy as possible for agents to book car rental with Avis,” added Kemp.

Wolf joins Avis from Bridge the World, where she was previously a senior sales consultant.
