Abta board member John de Vial has been appointed to a new role of head of financial protection at Abta.
The role has been created to reflect an increased focus on financial protection because of its importance to Abta members.
De Vial, who takes up the new full-time post on May 19, will leave his current jobs as Abta’s acting head of finance and Shearing Group’s director of external affairs. He will step down from the Abta board at the next annual general meeting in May.
De Vial has also worked in a variety senior positions at Thomas Cook and Tui Travel.
Abta chief executive Mark Tanzer said: “John’s extensive experience in financial protection and claims management procedures from previous roles will be of enormous value for ABTA with our ongoing work around financial protection.”
John de Vial added: “Financial protection is critical to the confidence of consumers and the success of our members’ businesses”.
