Virgin Atlantic and British Airways have topped a consumer poll for service and reliability. The poll by flight comparison site Skyscanner.net also rated Virgin Atlantic as the best airline for families.
More than 600 international travellers asked which airlines they believe were best for service, reliability and family travel. BA, Virgin and Emirates were rated equal top for reliability followed by Singapore Airlines and Qantas. Budget carriers EasyJet and Ryanair also appear in the top ten for reliability.
BA and Emirates were both voted top for service followed by Singapore Airlines and Virgin, with EasyJet in tenth place. BA was second best for families after Virgin, followed by Emirates and Thomas Cook Airlines, the only charter carrier to appear in any of the three top ten rankings.
Skyscanner chief executive Gareth Williams said: “It’s great to see that British airlines are still held in very high regard by the flying public, which is certainly something to be proud of.
“Passengers nowadays have a huge choice of airlines to travel with and, although price is probably the main deciding factor, we know that it is not the only influence; service, reliability and facilities play their part too and so it is important for airlines to develop customer loyalty by ensuring they offer a superior product to that of their competitors.”
