American resumes Dublin services

American Airlines is re-launching daily flights between Dublin and Chicago as part of its summer schedule.

The non-stop service using two-class Boeing 767s with 225 seats starts on April 6 with the airline moving operations into Dublin airport’s new Terminal 2. This will allow passengers to pre-clear US immigration and customs prior to boarding their flight.

On arrival in Chicago they will be treated as domestic rather than international passengers and make connections without the need to claim and re-check baggage before continuing on to their next flight.

The airline’s passenger sales director for Chicago Loretta Kuss said: “We look forward to welcoming back our Irish customers and hope they will enjoy the US Customs and Border Protection pre-clearance benefits made possible by our terminal move.”

Travellers will be able to use two American Airlines self-service machines in Dublin that enable a range of transactions including re-printing boarding passes, seat selection and check-in in addition to five regular check-in desks
