Responsible business manager for Virgin Holidays Salli Fenton is to join travel charity The Travel Foundation.
She is taking on the new full-time position of head of programmes from May 9 to lead its growing portfolio of destination and industry projects.
The appointment has been made to help shape the Travel Foundation’s programme strategy for the next five years including the development of existing and new destination projects to enhance local livelihoods and protect the environment, as well as initiatives to help travel companies and their suppliers manage their operations more sustainably.
Travel Foundation chief executive Sue Hurdle said: “The extension of the role of head of programmes to full-time reflects the continued growth of the charity and we are proud to be able to attract such an experienced sustainability professional to it.”
Fenton, who has spent over ten years in sustainability management roles, said: “The Travel Foundation’s aims are clear – to help travel companies become more sustainable.
“This means supporting local livelihoods and reducing environment impacts in destinations. I’m delighted to be joining the team to help drive action on sustainability across the industry.”
