More than 70 on-the-road sales reps, stuck at home while the UK self-isolates, have made a video to show their support for the trade during the coronavirus crisis.
The video features each representative catching a lemon while relaxing or bored at home, then cuts to a shot of them in their ‘uniform’, happily showcasing their brand.
Suppliers ranging from cruise lines and touring and adventure operators to insurance brokers and online training companies are featured.
The film was the brainchild of Graham Bishop, key account manager for the south of England for Travelsphere, who also painstakingly edited the individually-recorded clips.
The video is entitled ‘When life gives you lemons…make lemonade’ and is set to the track ‘Walking on Sunshine’ by Katrina and the Waves.
Bishop said: “Some of us are furloughed, some are holding the fort, however one thing we all agree with is that we will be back. So from all of your account managers, remember – when life gives you lemons, make lemonade. See you on the other side!”
Bishop added in a lighthearted post on Facebook: “Disclaimer: This video was made in our spare time and in no way counted as work in case Boris is following me.”
The 73 participants are now sharing the video on social media with the hashtag #WLGYLML
Inghams head of sales Julie Franklin posted: “With many of our industry on furlough, we wanted to ‘get together’ and have some fun…travel trade reps standing united.”
Posting a teaser on social media, APT business development manager Carrie Grant added: “The travel industry is taking a beating at the moment. As a little show of solidarity competing UK sales teams put together a video. Here is a short snip to celebrate coming back stronger together.”
