Silversea renames expedition ship

Silversea Cruises is to rename its expedition ship Prince Albert II this month to Silver Explorer while it is in dry dock at the Lisnave shipyard in Setubal, Portugal.

The ship is currently undergoing some routine maintenance work prior to its summer programme of Northern Europe and Arctic voyages.

Silversea chairman Manfredi Lefebvre said the cruise line had decided to change the name to prepare for the possibility of adding more ships.

“We decided to change the name of our first expedition ship to Silver Explorer and anticipate any further expedition ships will bear similar names that evoke a sense of luxurious adventure,” he said.
