Shanghai Disneyland reopens after coronavirus closure

Shanghai Disneyland has reopened to the public after it closed on January 25 due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The theme park will permit a limited number of visitors and put social distancing measures in place in queues, restaurants and other facilities such as ride vehicles.

Visitors must have their temperatures taken before they enter the park, and face masks must be worn at all times except when eating.

Tickets will only be sold before arrival, not on-site, and the park will also increase the frequency of its sanitisation and disinfection procedures.

Some interactive attractions, such as children play areas and theatre shows, will remain closed.

Parades and night-time events will return at a later date, but a character procession called Mickey and Friends Express will take place instead.

‘Close interaction’, such as close-up photos with characters, will be suspended during the initial phase of reopening.

The resort said it would also recognise and celebrate medical professionals “in the near future”.
