A British woman has been murdered in a shop in Tenerife, according to reports.
Witnesses said a man entered a Chinese supermarket then stabbed and beheaded a 62 year old woman, apparently at random.
A Bulgarian homeless man has been arrested in the town of Los Cristianos. Spanish media said the suspect had a police record.
The Foreign Office said it was urgently investigation reports of the murder.
A regional government spokeswoman said the suspect is believed to have entered the Chinese supermarket in the Valdes Shopping Centre and stolen a knife which he then used to assault and behead the woman, whose identity has not been released.
