Lufthansa Group airlines is to reinstate 40 weekly fights from the UK and Ireland from June 1.
Departures from Manchester, Birmingham, Edinburgh and Dublin to points in Germany will provide onward connections, with bookings available from today (Friday).
The move comes despite the Foreign Office continuing to advise against all but essential overseas travel.
Lufthansa Group airlines plan to run around 1,800 weekly round trips to more than 130 destinations by the end of June – more than half of the network as it was planned before the coronavirus crisis.
Flights will be provided by Lufthansa, Eurowings and Swiss to Frankfurt, Zurich, Dusseldorf, Hamburg, Stuttgart and Cologne. Frequencies will also increase from Heathrow.
Expanding the current schedule from 23 to 63 departures a week, the new connections mark the start of Lufthansa Group’s reinstatement of schedules to 130 destinations by the end of next month.
Lufthansa executive board member Harry Hohmeister said: “With the June flight schedule, we are making an important contribution to the revitalisation of the aviation infrastructure. It is an essential part of the German and European economic power.
“People want to and can travel again, whether on holiday or for business reasons.
“That’s why we will continue to expand our offer step by step in the coming months and connect Europe with each other and Europe with the world.”
