Holland America Line goes year-round in Europe

Holland America Line is to base a ship year-round in Europe for the first time from next year.

Ms Rotterdam will be deployed from its namesake Dutch port from September 2012 running a series of extended sailings.

Itineraries have been released running until spring 2013 including salings ranging from between 14 to 90 days in duration. The mid-size 1,688-passenger ship will operate to the Mediterranean, Canary Islands, Caribbean and Far East.

The ship will re-position to Rotterdam at the end of its summer season in Europe with the first departure on September 15, 2012 being a 14-day to Spain and Portugal cruise.

Marketing, sales and guest programmes executive vice-president Richard Meadows said: “The city of Rotterdam is where Holland America Line has its roots, and for us to place a ship there year-round is sentimental, exciting and ground-breaking for our line and our guests.

“Sailing from Rotterdam is going to be a wonderful homeport for many of our European guests, but these longer itineraries also will appeal to travellers coming from all over the world.”
