Pata to run online quiz nights for travel agents

The Pacific Asia Travel Association UK & Ireland is to run online quiz nights for travel agents as part of a series of new virtual training experiences.

It follows the recent launch of an online forum by Pata UK & Ireland to help members swap ideas to get through the coronavirus crisis.

The quiz nights, sponsored by Travel Uni, are designed as fun and informal events for agents to test and increase their destination knowledge.

The first takes place on May 28 followed by a second quiz on June 4.

The interactive quiz consists of 40 questions over eight rounds, all themed on the Asia Pacific region. It will include questions from the likes of Tourism Australia, Hong Kong Tourism Board, Outrigger Resorts, Tourism Western Australia, South Australia Tourism Commission, and the Banyan Tree.

Agents can compete against colleagues or team up to test their product knowledge, with the offer of a range of prizes from designer coffee cups and thermal water bottles to Bluetooth speakers and chocolate hampers.

Ian Dockreay, committee member and training representative for Pata UK & Ireland, said: “Our goal is keeping Asia Pacific front of mind with travel agents by using this enforced period of downtime to engage with and inspire them and these quizzes are a great way for agents to continue learning with our members.

“It’s just one of many ideas Pata have in the pipeline with the aim of boosting agents knowledge and morale before bookings start to pick up again.”

The online quizzes, hosted on Zoom, take place from 4pm to 5.30pm on May 28 and June 4. Agents can register for free here for either quiz. Email events@pata.org.uk for further details.
