The Irish Travel Agents Association (ITAA) has rescheduled its annual Irish Travel Trade Show, which was cancelled as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, for this autumn.
It will take place across two dates: on September 30, 2020, at The Imperial Hotel, Cork, and October 1 at Hotel Riu Plaza, the Gresham, Dublin.
The annual events, which were originally due to take place in March this year, typically attract more than 100 exhibitors and upwards of 300 travel trade representatives.
Pat Dawson, chief executive of the ITAA, said, “We were very disappointed to have to postpone the sixth annual Irish Travel Trade Show in Dublin, and our first show in Cork, however, this was very necessary measure in the interests of safeguarding our members, suppliers and visitors. We are delighted to announce that these shows have been rescheduled to go ahead in late September and early October, as we are looking forward to seeing all of our partners again and making new connections too.
“We’re looking forward to welcoming professionals from all levels of the travel trade, with more exhibitors to meet and expand opportunities for up-skilling and networking across both events this Autumn.”
The ITAA also announced its annual conference will take place this autumn, in Évora, Portugal, from October 15-18.
Dawson added: “The Annual Conference provides us with an opportunity to meet up and share ideas and experiences in order to learn from each other. We are very much looking forward to holding our conference in Évora and working to prepare an extremely successful and enjoyable event for our delegates from all over the world.
“These last few months have been incredibly stressful for the Irish travel industry, with many businesses under immense pressure due to travel restrictions brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic. The ITAA is delighted we can schedule these important events in order to get out and see old familiar faces, and perhaps a few new ones. We have released these dates for your diary so that we will all have something to look forward to once COVID-19 has subsided. As this is a fluid situation, there will be regular updates in the coming months, so be sure to check our ITAA newsletter and website for information.”
