Former First Class Holidays head of sales for the north Nisha Bean has joined The Travel Directors as business development manager.
She joins as the second BDM at the luxury homeworking firm, which has around 20 agents on its books, alongside Kim O’Brien.
Gary Pridmore, chief executive of The Travel Directors, said the new role was created because Bean, who has previously worked for Hays Travel, Jetset Holidays and Travel 2, became available.
He said: “We saw the news that Nisha had left First Class and I messaged her very quickly. We’ve worked a lot with First Class, they’re a great partner, so we know Nisha well. It’s great to be able to bring somebody onboard that comes from a like-minded company.
“We discussed her joining as a Travel Director at first but then we thought, ‘why not create this new BDM role?’. At some point, we are going to return to some sort of normal, and we’re expecting a ‘whoosh’, which we have to be ready for.”
He added: “The saying ‘in every crisis there’s an opportunity’ is something we firmly believe in, and we’re doing well in terms of new bookings and rebookings so we’re in a good position to grow.”
Pridmore said that the firm had been recruiting further homeworkers to its team, who are due to join a face-to-face induction once Covid-19 lockdown restrictions are lifted.
