Aito Agents has launched a sustainable tourism campaign to combat what its chairman Oliver Broad described as a “great risk” for the industry.
The Let’s Go Green campaign is designed to give members monthly practical advice on how they can make a difference.
This will include changing business practices, improving the impact offices have on the local environment and supporting a specific project abroad in a community in need of help.
The campaign will also enable Aito agents to educate their clients on how to make a difference to the destinations they visit.
Broad added: “Sustainable tourism and the issues surrounding it can’t be ignored.
“Without education and action now our industry is at risk for the future.
“On a recent trip to the Galapagos Islands it became even more obvious that we as holiday retailers should be aware of these issues and how we can help.
“Agents communicate directly with holidaymakers so we have a responsibility to take advantage of that position and raise clients’ awareness.”
