Ace director leaves for pastures new

The Association of Cruise Experts (Ace) has announced that its director Flo Powell is to leave.

Powell joined the trade cruise training organisation two years ago from the Tourism Society where she was executive director.

She took up the help from Andy Harmer, now The Cruise Portfolio sales and marketing director, who established the Ace brand and established the annual UK Cruise Convention.

Ace said Powell had chosen to leave the company. Her last day with Ace will be tomorrow (June 23) and a recruitment process to find her successor is already underway.

Ace said in a statement: “Flo has played a significant role in the success of two ACE UK Cruise Conventions and has been instrumental in developing and introducing new cruise training for the association’s agent members.”

PSA director, Bill Gibbons, said:  “We wish Flo every success in her future endeavours and would like to thank her for contributing to the success of ACE.”

In a personal message to industry contacts Powell said: “I have been considering pursuing my career in other directions for a while and feel that the time is now right for that move to take place.

“There have been many highlights, including the UK Cruise Convention, the continued development of our online training and our Cruise Expos.”
