P&O Cruises drops winter Tripoli calls

P&O Cruises has dropped calls in Tripoli due to the ongoing war in Libya. Three scheduled stops in Tripoli have been cancelled and replaced by other destinations in a reshuffle of itineraries.

New small ship Adonia’s call to the Libyan capital on December 30 has been replaced by La Goulette in Tunisia on December 31. As a result dates for calls at Haifa, Ashdod and Malta have been altered as part of a fly-cruise from the Athens port of Piraeus departing on December 20.

A Tripoli stop on January 11, 2012 as part of Oriana’s world cruise has also been cancelled and replaced by Naples and Malta. Oceana’s Tripoli call on March 3, 2012 has been replaced with Alexandria.

“P&O Cruises will continue to monitor the situation in Libya and if it improves and it is deemed safe to call in Tripoli, it will return to the original published itineraries,” the company said.
