Carlson Companies vice-president e-commerce Steve Endacott is believed to be considering a senior role at Thomson after deciding to return to the UK.
Endacott is thought to be flying back to the country this week after only six months in the countrybecause his family could not settle in Minneapolis, Carlson’s headquarters in the US and wanted to return to their home in the south of England.
Senior management at troubled Thomson are understood to have approached Endacott about taking up a senior position at the market leader.
“It would be a superb opportunity for him to make a bigger name for himself at Thomson. It is also a good time to join the company because the share price is so low and his incentive package would be very attractive,” said one source.
Industry sources say Endacott is also considering a position at Carlson’s UK partner Thomas Cook, working at its newly rebranded tour operation JMC. Carlson Leisure Group president Mike Batt is understood to be keen to keep Endacott at the company.
Endacott may also decide to set up his own telesales business in Manchester, a plan he was considering before he moved to the US earlier this year.
Formerly managing director of Inspirations Holidays, Endacott previously worked for Airtours as sales and commercial director.
Endacott was travelling in the USas Travel Weekly went to press and was unavailable for comment.
