Swan Hellenic cancels Libya calls

Swan Hellenic has followed P&O Cruises and shifted an itinerary away from war-torn Libya.

The company’s ship Minerva was due to make calls in the North African country on a Highlights of the Ancient World itinerary in October.

But following Foreign and Commonwealth Office advise against travel to Libya, the cruise has been altered to offer alternative ports.

Rhodes and Kusadasi will replace calls in Libya on the 13-night fly-cruise which departs on October 28. There will also be extended stays in Sousse in Tunisia, Heraklion and Nauplia in Greece.

“Whilst always placing guest safety at the forefront of activity, the revised itinerary will still offer fascinating shore excursions to ancient sites,” the company said.

P&O Cruises last week altered three itineraries away from Libya.
