COSMOS owner The Globus Group is trying to off-load Apollo Travel, its 25-strong travel agency chain.
The company has produced a sale document which has been distributed to a number of potential buyers.
Talks are believed to have taken place with all leading companies, including Thomson, which were said to be keen on the Teletext specialist before it acquired Manchester Flights earlier this month.
Rotherham-based Apollo only had five shops until it purchased a further 20 agencies from Woodcock Travel – which had gone into liquidation – last November for £500,000. But Globus has struggled to make the agencies profitable despite rebranding to Apollo.
The group’s chairman Fabio Mantegazza is now ready to sell the chain and is believed to have already turned down a £5m offer. Mantegazza declined to comment.
