Kuoni has made its first move to utilise the expertise of GTA, acquired from Travelport earlier in the year, by unveiling a direct-sell hotels website.
Kuonihotels.com is being operated by Octopus Travel, which is part of GTA, offering 50,000 three-star rated hotels and above worldwide.
The site www.kuonihotels.com concentrates on selling hotels only without transfers, flights, or other extras.
Octopus Travel is managing the new site, including all online capability and customer telephone calls, including sales and customer service.
“Everything from the initial customer enquiry through to payment will be operated by Octopus Travel,” Kuoni said.
“Kuonihotels.com will complement Kuoni’s existing businesses by offering customers more than 50,000 hotels worldwide, all with a three-star or above Tripadvisor rating where applicable.
“Most of the hotels featured will be in addition to those featured by Kuoni although inevitably, there will be some duplication in certain destinations.
“Kuonihotels.com will feature Octopus Travel contracted hotels which customers will book themselves, either online or through the Kuoni Hotels call centre call centre.
“As Octopus Travel is now part of the Kuoni Group we have an opportunity to provide another valuable service to our customers. Kuonihotels.com will complement our existing businesses.”
