Princess Cruises offers balcony upgrades for early bookers

Princess Cruises is offering free upgrades to balcony cabins and discounts on mini-suites for customers booking cruises for 2012-13 as part of an ‘early booking spectacular’ by parent company Carnival UK.

The cruise line will have balcony cabins on offer for the price of an outside stateroom and offer up to 10% per person off mini suites on 2012-13 bookings made between September 1 and October 31.

Princess’ sister brands Cunard and P&O Cruises are also offering free domestic flights, coach transfers or valet parking at Southampton to early bookers.

A seven-night Scandinavian cruise on Grand Princess from Southampton on June 2, 2012 is priced from £999 per person, based on two adults sharing a balcony cabin when the free upgrade is included, or £1,221 for a mini suite with a 20% discount.

The revised price for a 14-night Grand Princess Mediterranean sailing from Southampton on May 19 is from £1,999 per person, based on two adults sharing a balcony cabin, or £2,167 for a mini suite.

Princess Cruises UK head of brand marketing Pieter van der Schee said the company wanted to be seen as “unique” in the UK market. “Balconies are a big part of our offering and commercially we want to get this out to customers first,” he said.

Van der Schee said the promotional rates meant prices matched those offered this year.

The offer covers the entire Princess programme from ex-UK departures to Mediterranean fly-cruises, Alaska, the Caribbean and other parts of the world.
