Two die in Haven holiday caravan blaze

An investigation has begun into a caravan blaze which killed two people at a Haven holiday park in St Leonards.

A man and woman in their 40s were found after firefighters rushed to the scene at Combe Haven Holiday Park on Saturday night.

A spokesman for Combe Haven said: “A fire was discovered in one of our caravans shortly after 10pm on Saturday. The alarm was immediately raised and the emergency services alerted.

“Two members of our team at the park along with a neighbouring caravan owner tackled the blaze with fire extinguishers and hosed reels until the fire service arrived shortly afterwards.

“Two people, a man and a woman, were found inside the caravan. Sussex police and fire officers are investigating the cause of the fire.

“Our team members and guests are shocked by this tragic accident.

“The owners of the caravan were valued and popular members of the community at Combe Haven. They had been owners at the park since 2007.”
