COSTA MILLENNIUM ITINERARIES AVAILABLE


Costa Cruises has availability on two millennium cruises on its ships. Costa Romantica operates a 13-night Caribbean cruise which departs on December 21 from Florida, calling at Key West, Playa del Carmen, Cozumel, Ocho Rios,Serena Cay, Tortola and St Thomas. Prices start at £2,810 per person.A 12-night Mediterranean cruise from Savona, Italy, calls at Naples, Athens, Rhodes, Limassol, Haifa, Ashdod, Port Said, Alexandria and Katakolon. Prices start at £1,840.


VICE-PRESIDENT BURKE STEPS DOWN AT SILVERSEA


Silversea Cruises senior vice-president marketing and sales Janet Burke is to step down from the company due to ill health. Burke started her cruising career with Sitmar Cruises and joined Silversea in 1996. The cruiseline said it does not expect to replace Burke, who will continue as consultant to president and chief operations officer Bill Smith.


CASINOS PLAY ON IN US VIRGIN ISLANDS


Cruise ships calling in on the US Virgin Islands will be allowed to keep their casinos open while inport under a new ruling. Currently, international law bans cruiselines from doing so. The ruling is part of a US law, the Short Term Revenue EnhancementAct, which aims to bring more revenue to the islands.


THROUGH-CHECK-IN FOR FRED OLSEN CLIENTS


Fred Olsen Cruise Lines passengers on Caribbean flycruises can now check in their luggage at Gatwick and have it delivered directly to their cabin on board the cruise ship. The service applies to passengers on Fred Olsen charter flights. The cruiseline features 16 Caribbean flycruises in its 2000 brochure.
