Agents compete in final to beat Guinness World Record

Fourteen travel agent finalists are to battle it out to set a new Guinness World Record for packing a suitcase,


The final of Royal Caribbean International’s Pack More In competition will be held on board its cruise ship Independence of the Seas in Southampton tomorrow.


RCI sales assistant Lisa Clarkson holds the current world record of one minute 13 seconds for packing a case with 20 items after the company ran a head-to-head competition among its sales agents at its offices in Addlestone, Surrey.


RCI has now visited its travel agent partners nationwide inviting them to enter the competition. The agents who packed a bag the fastest in each region of the country have been invited to compete for the chance to beat its current world record.


The 14 finalists are: Leanne Bell, of Thomson, Eastbourne; Christian Boyd, of Iglu.com, Wimbledon; Jon Haworth of Cruise Thomas Cook, Accrington; Lindsay Joy, of Oasis Travel, Lisburn; Charles Kasper, of Hays Travel, Jarrow; Lisa McNamara, of 1 Stop Travel, Galway; Christopher Milnne, of Thomas Cook, Coventry; Nicola Neeks, of Ideal Cruising, Crawley; Laura Paterson, of The Cruise Specialist, Larbert, Falkirk; Kelly Snape, of Somewhere2Travel 2, Ilfracombe, Devon; Jennet Storey, of Thomas Cook Cruise Team, Accrington; Tina Williams, Cruise.co.uk; James Grant, of The Co-op Travel, Coatbridge; and Claire Wile, of First Choice, Wrexham.


Under Guinness World Records guidelines, each participant had to fold and place 15 items of clothing one at a time in the case, followed by five items they are wearing at the time.


The winner will receive a cruise on board Independence of the Seas.
