Delivery of new concept A-Rosa ship delayed

A-Rosa River Cruises has postponed the delivery of a new ship by almost a year.

The part-electric ‘E-Motion’ vessel, which was originally planned for May 2021, has been put back until March 2022 as a result of disruption to the supply chain caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The ship is currently under construction at the Severnav shipyard in Romania.

The interior will be completed at the Concordia Damen shipyard in Holland.

The first departures are now planned for April 2022 on the northern Rhine.

The ship will feature a new concept which allows it to switch to battery power when approaching a city and arrive emission-free. It can be then charged overnight by shore power connection.

The river cruiser has been designed specifically to cater for multi-generational holidaymakers .

New features include cabins sleeping up to five people, a dedicated kids club and a separate children’s pool next to the main pool on the sundeck.

The ship will also include large balcony cabins, a separate suite area and various dining options.
